MY VISION OF ART

During my second year of grade school, while living under Chile's dictatorship government, I visited a factory with my class. However, when we got there, everything was very different from what I thought. The employees were working under inhumane conditions. They were working under constant oppression from soldiers, with inadequate gear in an overwhelming jungle of noise. That day forever changed the way I looked at my future. It was devastating to think that my dreams of becoming an artist could end up being just that; Just a dream.

While growing up, my parents always encouraged me to find inspiration in real life heroes, real people who were not afraid to express their ideals. They also encouraged me to work tireless for what I wanted in life, becoming a serious professional in the world of arts. I still grow exited from the thought of changing the world with my art; particularly with my paintings.

My work comes from a combination dreams, nightmares, daily events, surrealism, and abstraction. I also challenge the absurdity of humanity by painting satires of spiritual juxtapositions from the past and modern life in which nostalgia, irrationality, and symbolism are the main theme. I strongly believe that these are important factors that must be brought up, since everybody’s subconscious is an invisible force that affects our prospective of reality, culture, death, and history in our daily routines. I’m convinced that one's art work is a precious legacy that could be passed across time and future generations. As an artist I want my art to help unite people and communicate with all levels of society, as they would not only interact with my paintings but also among each other becoming one soul attached to my art. After viewing my expressions, I wish to view people staying linked through my art by creating pigments of inspiration in their imaginations.

I believe that an artist should faithfully serve society by uniting people through art, never being paid for his labor but for his positive visions. Therefore, my motivation is to focus my art as an instrument of communication, inspiring creativity, hope and change among anyone interested in my unique visual expression and style.
